Add Google Maps to your website - Quick

What do you want to do?

Plot one location

1. Search for a location on maps.google.com

2. Specify the map type you want

Choose between the different map views

You may want to use Street View to see a street-level image of the address. Just drag the Pegman icon to the location you want to see.


3. Click on "Link" at the top right corner of the map

Copy and paste to an HTML page to display the map

You can change the size and preview your embedded map here


4. You are done!

The map appears right where you placed the HTML

Plot multiple locations

1. Click on "My Maps" and then "Create a map"

NOTE: You will need to sign in to your Google Account or create one for free if you don't have one.


2. Click

Your cursor changes into a placemark icon with an "X" crosshairs. The crosshairs indicate where the placemark will fall. Follow the onscreen instructions to save each placemark.

You can also add a placemark to your My Map by searching for it in Google Maps and clicking "Save to My Maps" in the information window.


3. Add title and description to your placemark. Then save it by clicking "OK"


4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 as necessary

Import your data as KML, KMZ or GeoRSS.

5. Click on at the top right corner of the map

The rest of the steps are the same as for "Plot one location."


Additional options

Example 1: Directions to your business

Why write out directions from various locations when you can give your users door-to-door directions? Embed this gadget in your site to help customers get the exact directions they need.

Go to the landing page to try the gadget out. Then you can customize the gadget with your address and your preferred appearance in the set up page.

Get the single line of code and paste it into your HTML page

The gadget will display directions inside your webpage


Example 2: Local Search results

Use the Google Maps search to find businesses in a given area and embed the results on your website. For example, if you own a hotel, you can show residents that there are a lot of restaurants nearby.

Click on "Link" and follow the same steps as when you're plotting a location.
